Surf / Sea State: Very messy - W swell + S wind-
Air Temperature: 18 - 15
Sea Temperature: Not unpleasant

Distance Covered:

As I missed Sunday's epic conditions due to crap forecast, I wasn't going to miss today!

Wind was usual silly buggers from S - no wind on beach. Wind 100m out. No wind & seriously confused swells 300m out. More wind beyond & less S wind-blown chop. Bizarre.

Was never over powered, though sail felt uncomfortable. Played around with it a number of times - only with considerable extra downhaul did it start to feel light - & planed earlier!

An *interesting* day, with lots of jumps going out. Unfortunately, only v small waves on inside so - despite the good wind direction - wave riding was not so hot.

Early on in session, I dropped in about 600m out & couldn't get going for ages - no wind! This unsettled me somewhat as I didn't fancy getting having to swim in - it was a bloody long way. And with me weighing (a now slightly reduced) 80Kg on a 85l board in the confused swells, there was no way I could uphaul - didn't even try!

Interestingly, I wore my new heart rate monitor for today's sess: I thought I was working out reasonably hard on my bike with a HR of 140. During today's sess, I never saw it go below 140 & once I saw it at 168 - which is getting *very* close to my theoretical max of 171. Who says windsurfing's not aerobic?

As the wind started to drop ~ 17:45, I took to playing a little more in the shallows - I still can't tack this bloody board, but I did find some interesting new ways of dismounting & filling up the back end of the boom with mud!!

First outing for my summer wetsuit - & stuff those booties 'till winter. Whoooppeee!!
